- 8+ weeks out: Request quotes, confirm HOA / landlord approval, pick screen vs solid scope.
- 6 weeks: Sign, pay deposit, start permit if required.
- 3–4 weeks: Materials ordered; confirm footing / rock plan.
- Install week: Build, inspect, punch list before packing week.
Lead times stretch in peak summer. Tell the builder your list / report date on the first call. On-post housing has separate rules; this guide is for off-post private homes in Killeen, Harker Heights and Temple.
- Photo the finished work for the listing.
- Keep permit finals for the buyer.
- If time is too short, price a simpler aluminum cover without screens.
